Case Study: MillerCoors Women in Beer

We had so much fun with the Great Lakes Region chapter of Women in Beer at MillerCoors during their two-day annual meeting! After surveying the group on their interest in various topics, we landed the topic of Mapping Career Strategy.

After the session, one participant shared, “I thought it was a great way to sit down and map out what our individual priorities are including work and personal life.”

We know this group is serving as accountability partners for one another as they head into a busy time of year and look forward to hearing how everyone has achieved their objectives!

Case Study: Women's Leadership Conference Northeast Ohio

Gild Collective was invited to lead a breakout session at the 2019 Women’s Leadership Conference Northeast Ohio. The short session provided a high-level overview and understanding of unconscious bias in the workplace.

The event gathered over 700 women from across Northeast Ohio and drew the attention of news outlets covering the inspirational event.

The 2020 WLCNEO will take place on September 22, 2020 and tickets are available. We can’t wait to attend once again!

#BalanceforBetter – International Women's Day 2019

On March 8, 2019 people all around the world will celebrate International Women’s Day and its 2019 theme: #BalanceforBetter. At it’s core, International Women’s Day (IWD) is a celebration of women– where we have been and what we have achieved socially, economically, politically, and culturally. However, in addition to celebrating how far we have come, IWD also calls us to look at how far we have yet to go on the path to gender parity, and what actions must we all take as individuals to increase the pace of progress?

4 Skills Successful Female Leaders Have

There are many qualities accomplished female bosses have in their success arsenal. With these in tow, they’re able to set out into the world and lead with confidence. Have a look at Gild Collective’s top four leadership skills outlined below: do you recognize these traits in yourself?

Inspiring Future Female Business Leaders

Women are great leaders because they are great at building relationships, empowering others, tuning into people’s needs, and just being awesome. Once you have made it to the top, don’t forget those behind you, following the path you have blazed through. Be you, and lead courageously...like a girl.

Find Your Voice and Own It

Having women in leadership actually encourages other women to speak up and bring their ideas forward. So speak up and encourage your fellow female leaders to do so. Speak with passion and authority and please don’t apologize.

Empathy: A Female Leader’s Greatest Superpower

We all know the stereotype: Successful leaders are rational, assertive, linear and in complete control of their emotions. But who said empathy wasn’t a necessary skill to be successful?

We are obviously huge fans of Wonder Woman here at Gild. In Wonder Woman: The Art and Making of the Film, Patty Jenkins reflected on the greatest superpower of all: "...to be strong enough to love in the face of darkness is the thing that sets Wonder Woman apart from so many before her.” Empathy was Wonder Woman’s greatest superpower.

Before Convincing Employees that Women’s Initiatives are Worth Their Time, Convince Their Leaders

Busy. Overwhelmed. Buried under work. Treading water. Barely surviving.

These are phrases that we hear our friends (and ourselves) use on a regular basis when we discuss our jobs. When we combine the stress we feel at work with our personal responsibilities outside of the office, it can often feel like too much to juggle. More organizations than ever are trying to serve their female employees through women’s initiatives, many of which aim to help tackle the constant state of “overwhelmed” that many women are stuck in. These initiatives have the best intentions, and even call in outside resources to plan amazing programming for their female workforce. However, organizers still tell us that one of their biggest challenges in getting women engaged is convincing them that women’s initiatives are worth their time– time that, as we know, is a precious and limited resource.

The workshops are coming! The workshops are coming!

I have a secret to tell you.

When you start a company, there are an overwhelming number of decisions to be made. And somehow… even the ones that seem simple leave you unsure. We have made a lot of changes to Gild since we began a year and a half ago. Some have been wins, some… not so much.

But every step of the way, we have learned. We learned some basics about what our customers like and what they don’t like, and we learned that sometimes customers can be tricky. We learned that sometimes being the first female team to go through an accelerator can have its unique challenges.

But more importantly, after crafting with over 1,300 women, we learned that we are not alone in those challenges.

And while that is comforting, it is also disturbing. Hearing the stories of the challenges women face in the workplace made us ask ourselves:

What can we do to help?

With that question, we made the first decision for the business that truly felt like a no-brainer. Gild Collective now offers creative workshops focused on women’s leadership in the workplace.

We’re coming into offices (or offsites!) and guiding groups through discussion and exercises that focus on the issues that deserve exploration and action:

  • Building confidence
  • Fostering mentorships & relationships
  • Overcoming unjust moments

Each workshop ends with a creative project that not only serves as a bonding experience, but also gives each participant a takeaway that they can wear or display to remind them to live and lead with greater confidence and passion.
