Having women in leadership actually encourages other women to speak up and bring their ideas forward. So speak up and encourage your fellow female leaders to do so. Speak with passion and authority and please don’t apologize.
The Communicating Effectively workshop we developed in conjunction with the General Cable team invited both male and female employees to attend and discuss the differences in perceived vs. actual gender-based communication styles.
Participants were encouraged to take a few Implicit Association Tests in advance of the workshop, and together we worked to understand our own biases and their impact, as well as the impact that others' biases have on us.
Throughout each of the women's leadership stories, there was a common thread: making space for the women that you mentor or those that will come after you to rise higher.
Together we brainstormed ideas, voted on favorites, and plotted actionable items along a twelve month road map that the Council can begin executing on immediately.
